Excellent overview of a very complex system. This one goes in my keeper index!
I have been riding for decades.I was taught not to cross chain but I just learned to slow ones pedalling when you upshift.Thank you.
Shockingly bad tool-making!
I just found your channel. Awesome work !
Thank you

Sir I'm from India and very depressed because of my cycle i changed my 7 speed shimano freewheel and chain but now it whenever i shift my gear from higher to lower gear it doesn't shift and sounds like clicking i changed the axle but it doesn't works now the cycle mechanic told me to change my hub, freewheel, and chain because it is causing wobble i already spends lots of money i don't know what to do i also adjusted the derailleur properly higher tension gives smooth shifting while shifting to higher gear but gives me problem chain slipping clicking sound in lower gears my problem is totally different please help me what is the main problem 🥺🙏
That is a good idea. I will try that!👍🏻

Shimano SMBBR60 bottom brackets made for frames with a 68mm bottom bracket shell DO NOT require any spacers. This video is wrong. For example, if you have a road bike frame with a 68mm shell and you buy the 68mm version of the Shimano SM-BBR60 bottom bracket then Shimano does not supply spacers with it - because NONE are needed! If anybody followed the advice above and put in spacers that they had laying around, in the example given in this video, then that would be wrong.
Fair point - though it does depend on the particular frame and cranks. Sometimes (not rarely enough) you need a spacer before the right hand side cup in order to get the axle protruding just the right amount (there is a bout +-1 mm "wiggle" room for the left crank fitting) and have them be symmetrical relative to the frame's centre line. Relja
Don't make videos man, your hands are crooked, it's painful to watch.
LOL
Have you tested this lubrication method oo long distances? I can see oil and especially grease is much thicker than the Shimano recommended one.
Mićko rides like that for years. Commuting and fun rides. He's got years and miles on those babies. Relja
The creaking is caused by relative movement between 2 touching surfaces. The anti seize compound puts something between those surfaces and stops fretting corrosion ( small motions between surfaces ) . Unlike grease, anti-seize has microscopic physical chunks of soft material in it like copper , aluminium powder and graphite ( low friction additive ) to keep the lubricated surfaces apart. It can also help prevent Galvanic corrosion. Anti-seize for cars is often designed for high temperatures which don't happen on a bicycle The saddle on the bike looks like an SQLabs ? I've often wondered if I should get one as the front of my sit bones dig into the transition areas between the widest and narrowest sections of all my saddles ( high pelvic rotation ) . They are expensive , hence my hesitation to get one. Chainrings are a lot easier to assemble onto crank arms off the bike. Doing it otherwise is like juggling ! I like the brush Relja and the ' nail bar technique ' 😉
It's a friend's bike, I'd have to check. Probably an SQLabs. I like Fizik saddles (though I also like Brooks Flyer for upright commuting bikes). Anti-seize like "copper grease" is high-temp resistant, so probably an overkill, but it works perfecly fine with bicycles (you could say it's an "overkill" but it gets the job done with no problems). Relja
Regarding galvanic corrosion, if water ever gets to the interface between the components and the metal in the anti-seize, copper will cause aluminum to pit, so if you are using anti-seize against aluminum and water can get in, use anti-seize with aluminum instead of copper particles. This is a great solution, and a little anti-seize goes a long way. I’ve used the same small tube for decades, and I’ve used it on the faces of alloy wheels as well as spark plugs on my cars. Keeps them from sticking to the rotors.
@@chow-chihuang4903 Your comment made me look in the Parktool document library for their ASC-1_SDS files which state the ingredients for their Anti seize compound. It contains NO copper , the solid components being listed as limestone , talc , graphite and aluminium.
Man, this has been the single-most helpful video I have ever seen on getting familiar with your own sense of balance. Aside from a couple of days with training wheels as a child I have never ridden a bike before now I'm 40 and I am desperate to learn. I can not wait to try this out and it just feels very simple and confidence building, it feels right to me. I might look like a fool doing it in my neighborhood but so be it. Thank you so much for this video!
My elementary school corridor had a bilboard that said: "There is no shame in not knowing. There is only shame in not being willing to learn." So only petty neighbours may laugh, but that's their problem. Stay cool and enjoy the learning. It is well worth it! Relja
I have using like tool from Bike Hand.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!!
Thank you this was very well presented, I'm happy you showed how the two chainring system would work I have two bikes with this setup (2x front and 9x back) So I should avoid using the smallest 2-3 cassette with the my smaller chain ring and vice versa ja)
Took it apart. Couldn't get it back together. So thank you!.
Friction shifting forever!
Thank you for your precious explanations!!!😊
Dude thank you for this, very informative and learned a lot from you. Keep up the good work. Earned a subscriber for life here :D
Definitely stress relieve. Spokes that are too short can cause breakage too. Also using a spoke tension gauge is important to not exceed max tension for the rim, or hub. Too much spoke tension can cause spoke breakage, or the rim to crack at the spoke holes, or eyelets to pull through. Small wheels, or wheels with extremely large hubs, or a combination thereof; For example ebike hub motors can benefit from rounded nipples and washers that allow the spokes to seat at a better angle. I.e Sapim Polyax, and DT swiss has an equivalent. This is another cause of breakage on ebike wheels.
Agree with most - good points. Just not sure about the rounded nipples. Bending spokes at the nipple entry section works effectivelly. Relja
More videos, please!!!
Visible and Predictable. But you've also taken the space you need on the road and that's what it's all about.

I am learning so much from your enthusiastic videos ! Thank you! Добро урађено!
I would avoid this brand, the quality of their tools is not good and it is overpriced. Looks like you have some kind of special discount from them (judging by all the Unior stuff you have), so maybe it still makes sense for you.
The long version: bike.bikegremlin.com/6857/unior-tools/ TL/DR: Unior is the only brand that lets you buy stuff in my country (Serbia) at their regular prices (practically the same ones that Germans and Americans pay). For the other brands, you must buy from abroad, with all the extra shipping, customs and tax costs, so the prices end up almost 50% higher than in Germany (EU) & US. Some of their tools are awesome (cone wrenches, pedal wrenches, for example), some are quite good, some have bugs like this one, and some are rubbish like their newest RD hanger alignment tool. Edit: Almost forgot the important thing: Unior also lets me order any tool spare parts and has a warranty. If I buy from abroad (other brands), I can just sit and cry in case of any problems. Relja
moj čovek
Great comparison! I was considering these two models and now you convinced me to get the Lezyne. Longer tube will make the Lezyne pump a lot easier to use. Regarding the issue with closing the presta valve while screwing on the pump, i open the nut on the valv until it stops against the dented end of the "valve core shaft", then i open it a litte bit more and it gets tight towards the dent and will not unintentionally rotate/screw in. Not sure if that description is understandable. 😆
Yup - it is perfectly clear. Neat. :) Relja
Super useful and crystal clear details. Thank you so much 😊
Great video. Direct and to the point with valuable information and suggestions. Thanks!
thanks so much for doing this video despite the heat!
the tool you used is a "thread pitch gauge"
Brilliant! I watched several videos on wheel lacing recently, by the most respected bike businesses, and although they discussed the spoke types and the tensions and stresses of different lacing patterns, they did not explain the details at all, of the different spoke types. Do you have ideas on how to pull the gears from the ebike motor without having to buy a special tool? Slamming it down did not separate the parts. Applying lube, then waiting, I can try. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on so many repair shop ideas!
I should have posted on your forum :) as advised.
Remind me to thank you later. :)
Great solution.
"If it works, it ain't stupid!" :)
The term you keep looking for is "jam nut"
I've already made a presentation/review of this tool. However, I have noticed a problem and that's why I made this update - it is important: ua-cam.com/video/RSWcLVXfxdA/v-deo.html Relja

Namaste 🇷🇸 Serbia! Smooth rides to You!
THANK YOU!
Why not use just three gears
Satelite gears (that have marks for alligment) have needle bearings. So after degreaser they should be greased.
Wow great vid no wonder my bikes chains would go to shit
It sound like a lot of effort to you can get these boxes I hope you enjoy it... great video....
excellent, so helpful, thank you very much!
Thank you so much for this video. The used bike I bought has Dunlop valves, which had me scratching my head a bit.
Brilliant information...this has always confused me.thank you .💙uk
There have been studies that concluded wearing helmet gives false sense of security. So you'll attempt that jump that otherwise doesn't make sense to take. Understanding the details lets people make informed decisions not only in what helmet to purchase but a way to be a better, safer rider. Great video!!!
Please give a reference to these studies. Thanks
@@fintonmainz7845 in regards to American football, not necessarily cycling... but anyways... maybe Google next time... but for the lazy Copy/paste Dr. Eric Swartz of the University of New Hampshire conducted a study that showed helmetless-tackling drills reduced head impacts by 28%, as players without helmets were less likely to use their heads for tackling, illustrating the false sense of security provided by helmets [❞]. Similarly, other studies have suggested that football helmets can create a sense of invincibility, leading players to use their heads more aggressively [❞] [❞].
